Why Ube in Halo-halo?
Purple
yam or commonly known as Ube is used in
a variety of desserts, as well as a flavor for ice cream,
filling for “piya-ya”,
Swiss rolls, tarts, cookies, cakes, and other pastries. It is eaten as a
sweetened jam called ube halayá, a popular ingredient in the iced dessert
called halo-halo. But, why Ube for halo-halo?
I asked some of my friends why it should have to put Ube. And
here are their random answers.
Nung Jonas said: it give distinct flavour in halo-halo.
April a psychology student believed: Once we hear the word halo-halo, an ube
toping is always been part of it.
